LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen was taken to a hospital Sunday after a horseback riding accident.
Pillen was riding horses with his family when a new horse bucked him off, according to the governor’s office.
A spokeswoman said he was taken to Columbus Community Hospital, then transferred to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha “out of an abundance of caution.”
Pillen is expected to stay at UNMC for several days.
The spokeswoman said the governor is alert and “in continuous touch with his team.”
“Gov. Pillen and his family are very appreciative of the thoughts and prayers given to them by Nebraskans and they wish all Nebraskans a very merry Christmas,” the press release said.
