Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the war on the Gaza Strip will continue for months, and Lebanese Hezbollah threatened strikes that it would “unimaginable” if it expands the war.
Netanyahu confirmed – in a press conference – that the Israeli army “is deepening its military operations in the southern and central Gaza Strip, above and below the ground,” threatening to liquidate the leaders of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
He also spoke of achieving “major victories” and acknowledged that they had incurred “heavy costs,” considering that “victory requires more time” and that “the fighting will continue for months.”
Regarding post-war discussions, Netanyahu said, “Hamas must be eliminated first,” adding that “the Israeli army is the one that will disarm Hamas.”
Netanyahu acknowledged that he is facing international pressure, but he pledged to achieve the goals of the occupation, most notably restoring security and a sense of security so that the residents of the Gaza Strip can return to their homes, he said.
On the northern front, Netanyahu threatened Lebanese Hezbollah and Iran to receive blows that the party “would not imagine” if it expanded the war.
He added that the Israeli government works against Iran “all the time and in every place,” noting that everyone knows that the threat from Tehran will increase if it obtains a nuclear weapon.
The Israeli Prime Minister stressed that the Philadelphia border area between Gaza and Egypt should be under Israel’s control.
