Netflix fans devastated as beloved series is axed despite rave reviews – and cast share emotional goodbyes

Fans have shared their devastation after a beloved series on Netflix was axed after one season, despite receiving rave reviews.

Dead Boy Detectives, which is part of the DC Comics Sandman universe, follows teen ghosts, Edwin Paine and Charles Roland, as they work alongside Crystal the clairvoyant to solve mysteries for their supernatural clientele. 

The eight-episode series, which dropped onto Netflix UK and Ireland on April 25, proved a huge hit with both horror and mystery fans but sadly won’t be returning for a second series.

Shortly after it was revealed the show has been cancelled, the two lead stars shared their upset on social media.

George Rexstrew, who plays Edwin, shared his heartbreak as he posted a broken red heart emoji against a black screen on Instagram.

His co-star Jayden Revri, who stars as Charles, reflected on his experience on the series in a heartfelt X post.

He wrote: ‘Just wanted to come on here and say how forever grateful I am to Dead Boy Detectives. 

‘I met some of the most talented people I know & above all, met you all. You’re the heartbeat of this show & our legacy will live forever in this community☠️’
