The Russian specialist indicated that the existing differences are not sufficient to overcome the immune reaction to the developed vaccines.
The head of the Genomic Engineering Laboratory said it would be possible to talk about more dangerous mutations with the emergence of highly targeted drugs that would make the infection develop. However, such an order should not be expected in the near future.
The Canadian provincial authorities of Ontario had announced the discovery of two cases of “British” Corona virus.
And media reports reported earlier that the same type of “British virus” appeared in Denmark, the Netherlands, Australia, South Africa, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, France, Japan and Singapore.
The first appearance of the mutated strain was in England (Britain), where it has been identified since last September.
Alexander Gorilov, Deputy Director of Scientific Work at the Russian Central Institute of Epidemiology at the Authority for the Protection of Consumer Rights and Citizen Welfare, confirmed that the “British” Corona virus has not yet reached Russia.
Gorilov said in a press statement: “There are 111 laboratories of the Russian Authority for the Protection of Consumer Rights and Citizen Welfare in the country that are monitoring the spread of the virus, and we can confidently say that the British boom does not exist at us at the moment.”
A report issued by the British Genome Consortium on “Covid-19” speaks of a total of 17 mutations of the vector virus, of which 14 have a change in the amino acid sequence of proteins, and 3 others are related to the deletion and removal of many amino acids from the sequence. The changes occurred, among other things, in the barbed protein SARS-Cove-2 by which it binds to a target on the surface of human cells.
