The New Orleans Pelicans reaped their third victory in the last four games last morning by beating the Los Angeles Clippers by a comfortable 89-113.
Brandon Ingram led his team’s offense with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists, including 10 of 19 shooting from the field.
“Ingram is playing at an extremely high level. You can pick your points,” Willie Green told ESPN. “The beauty of what he’s getting is that he has a lot of confidence in his teammates, and when you do that, the sky is the limit for you on offense,” he explained.
The Pelicans, who led the score by as many as 25 points in the first half, dished out 23 assists and committed only 6 turnovers (they usually average 14.9). For their part, the Clippers’ 15 turnovers turned into 23 points for their rival.
“We’re just trying to figure it out,” Terance Mann noted of Paul George’s absence. “They got ahead very early and we got into a hole. Once the team feels that confident, it’s very difficult to catch them.”
Mann had 15 points starting as a reserve, and his teammate Marcus Morris contributed 12 points, although he was 3 of 14 from the field. Day to forget for the Clippers in the launch with 38.3% in field goals and a gray 29.4% in triples (10 of 34 attempts).
“Tonight we came out very aggressive and I just hope we can continue to be consistent to get more wins,” admitted rookie Herb Jones.
Other highlights of the Pelicans were center Jonas Valanciunas with 18 points and 16 rebounds; the aforementioned Jones scored 14 points; Devonte Graham added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists; and Josh Hart finished with 12.
