Developed by British scientists, this multiplex test could also detect early signs of diseases like cancer and heart disease. Sepsis, caused by bacterial or viral infections, leads to thousands of deaths annually with no reliable test available. The test, which may be available in the UK by 2025, could help diagnose sepsis faster, potentially saving lives. Additionally, the test could identify biomarkers for other serious diseases such as bladder, pancreatic, cervical, and breast cancer. Trials have shown promising results, and further studies are expected to be published soon.
