The University of Espirito Santo in Ecuador said that a group of its scientists discovered new types of Corona virus, one of which could affect the increase of the disease, but it has nothing to do with the British strain.
The university stated that the researchers have preserved genetic material from more than 2.5 thousand samples from 22 provinces in the country, which allowed determining the type of virus strain that appeared in each city, and whether there were mutations of the virus.
The scientists pointed out that “a new type of SARS-CoV-2 virus has been identified, and there are doubts that it may play a role in the rapid increase in the spread of virus infection. The local virus study did not show any genetic similarity to the British virus.”
The university noted that two other types of the virus were identified in the country, noon between July and November.
