The New York Knicks have listed point guard and sixth man Immanuel Quickley as doubtful for Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Miami Heat.
Quickley sat out Game 4 and Game 5 after suffering a sprained left ankle in Game 3 of the series and could be seen wearing a walking boot on the sideline during New York’s Game 5 victory.
Rather than reach further into the depths of the team’s bench, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau elected to leave his starting backcourt of Jalen Brunson and Quentin Grimes on the court for all 48 minutes of action, despite Brunson reportedly receiving ‘around the clock’ treatment just to play through his own ankle injury.
New York had also been without three-point specialist Evan Fournier in Game 5 as he was ruled out due to an illness.
The Knicks’ other star player Julius Randle has also been playing through ‘ankle discomfort’ in the series.

Starting guards Jalen Brunson and Quentin Grimes played a full 48 minutes due to the injuries
All-Star power forward Julius Randle has also been suffering from an ongoing ankle issue
Brunson and Grimes went on to become the first pair of Knicks guards to play an entire regulation playoff game since Walt Frazier and Jerry Lucas accomplished the feat in 1972.
Grimes appeared to pick up a injury late in Game 5 against Miami after he banged knees with Heat forward Bam Adebayo and was unable to move momentarily after recovering a steal.
After the game he was seen walking without a limp and is expected to take the court for the Knicks in their win-or-go home matchup on Friday night.
Quickley averaged 14.9 points, 3.4 assists, and 4.2 rebounds while only missing one game during the entire regular season and was in contention to win the NBA’s sixth man of the year award.
During the playoffs he has struggled to put forth the same level of production, averaging only nine points, one assist, and 1.4 rebounds.
