New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said 1,000 National Guard members will be sent from New York to Washington to help secure a peaceful transition of power.

“At the request of the US National Guard, I will send 1,000 personnel from New York to the capital for up to two weeks to help secure a peaceful transfer of presidential power,” Cuomo said in a statement posted on Twitter.
On Wednesday, Washington witnessed protests by supporters of outgoing President Donald Trump, who gathered in Washington to demonstrate in support of him, and they managed to storm the Congress building, which caused the suspension of the session, which was intended to validate the election results.
