An elementary faculty instructor suffered everyday living-threatening injuries immediately after being shot Friday in a Virginia initial-grade classroom by a 6-12 months-old pupil, officials stated. The pupil is in custody.
No learners ended up wounded at Richneck Elementary College in Newport News, Virginia, law enforcement mentioned.
“The altercation was involving a 6-year-previous, the pupil who did have the firearm, and the instructor and then the round was fired,” Newport News Law enforcement Chief Steve Drew reported. “This was not an accidental capturing.”
Drew claimed a phone was obtained about the capturing at about 2 p.m. and authorities responded “within just minutes.” He mentioned there is not a ongoing risk to the group.
“We did not have a scenario where somebody was heading all over the school shooting. We experienced a circumstance in 1 specific site in which a gunshot was fired,” Drew claimed in a push conference.
