A press report stated that the German authorities are considering supplying the “Northern Torrent-2” gas pipelines with a mechanism that would enable them to stop their work in the event that Russia exerts pressure on Ukraine.

According to the newspaper, Germany wants to stop the pipeline’s work if “Russia tries to blackmail Ukraine by reducing gas supplies” with the aim of making it impossible for Russia to use “Northern Torrent-2” as a tool for pressure on Ukraine.

The German newspaper “Handelsblatt” had previously reported, citing a source in the American administration, that the United States had expressed its willingness to discuss the issue of “Northern Torrent -2” with several conditions, including the possibility of stopping the work of the gas pipeline in the event of Russia restricting gas supplies.
