“The Hill” newspaper reported that the heads of “Facebook” companies, Mark Zuckerberg, “Twitter”, Jack Dorsey, and “Google”, Sundar Pichai, will appear before the US House of Representatives during a session on disinformation in the Internet.
The newspaper quoted sources, Thursday, that the three businessmen will participate in a hearing of the Energy and Trade Committee in the House of Representatives on March 25.
The sources indicated that the meeting will address the efforts of the administrations of the aforementioned companies aimed at combating the spread of misleading information about the Corona virus and the recordings related to violence during the disturbances in the US Capitol on January 6, when the Congress headquarters were stormed by supporters of the former president, Donald Trump.
“For a very long time, the major technology companies did not realize the role they played in igniting and disseminating false information in front of their followers. The policy of self-control in this sector has failed,” said the director of the Energy and Trade Commission, Frank Ballon Jr., in a statement released Thursday with some other MPs.
