Reuters reported that at least 70 civilians were killed in armed attacks targeting two villages in Nigeria.
Two security sources told the agency that at least 70 civilians were killed in simultaneous attacks on two villages by Islamist militants in Niger, near the border region with Mali.
And Nigerian army spokesman John Enninche announced on Friday that dozens of “Boko Haram” militants were killed in a series of air strikes launched by the army in the northeastern state of Borno.
He added, “The armed forces attacked the hideouts of the militant group near Tomboon Jenny in Borno State last Wednesday.”
And engaged in “Boko Haram” an armed rebellion since 2009, when its leader was killed in a Nigerian army prison, and later announced that it was seeking to apply Islamic law in northern Nigeria.
