Nikola Jokic says being an NBA coach is the ‘worst job on the planet’ after praise from Mike Malone

Don’t expect Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic to join the NBA coaching ranks when he eventually decides to leave the hardcourt. 

The Nuggets put up an impressive performance on Saturday night’s Western Conference Finals Game 3 in Los Angeles – where Jokic and teammate Jamal Murray led the way to a 119-108 victory.

After the game ended, Nuggets head coach Mike Malone gave an insight into why the game seemed like the ‘Jamal and Nikola Show’ down the stretch.

‘Him and Jamal were playing [a] two-man game and I have to give credit where credit is due, that was Nikola’s call,’ Malone said.

‘He said on the bench “let’s go to this play, let me and Jamal play [the] whole side of the floor and we’ll make the right reads” and we milked that down the stretch. So Coach Jokic did a great job tonight.’

After the game, a reporter asked Jokic about the comment and jokingly asked ‘what is coach Jokic like?’

Putting his head in his hands, Jokic replied, ‘I don’t know. I don’t want to be a coach… that’s the worst job on the planet for sure.’ 

This victory gives the Nuggets a commanding 3-0 series lead that almost surely guarantees their advancement to the franchise’s first ever NBA Finals. 

No team in the history of the NBA playoffs has ever overcome a 3-0 series deficit at any stage – with an overall record of 0-149.

The Nuggets look to complete the sweep in Los Angeles on Monday night.
