Nissan Kicks E-power: double advantage

Finally, Nissan officially announced the arrival of the Kicks e-Power, its electric proposal in the compact SUV segment and which has a position that will be very attractive thanks to the versions that were configured. It also maintains an image very close to the rest of the versions, a detail that will be beneficial for the user who prefers discretion.

The technology applied to this vehicle, in addition to being very low emissions, is very convenient because it eliminates the need to search for a charger as well as saving recharging time.

no surprises

Nissan Kicks e-Power is a vehicle that maintains a conventional and user-friendly image that is only looking for a mobility option and that considers that this type of technological advance reflects its impact mainly on price.

It maintains its length of 4,300 millimeters by 1,960 millimeters wide by 1,615 millimeters in height, which, as you will see, its dimensions make it valuable for urban environments with little space.

The main hallmarks of the exterior equipment are the e-power anagrams. To them is added a rear spoiler led lights except for the Advance level where the fog lights are filament. This level also does not have the darkened windows in the second row.

Well-appointed

Before moving on to the most important section of this model, it is necessary to detail which are the elements of comfort and technology for its occupants.

The cluster maintains the combination of an analog clock with a digital display, which in this case eliminates the projection of engine revolutions and adopts a scheme to show energy delivery and battery charge level, among others. It has an 8” screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for all three versions, USB ports and air conditioning.

The Kicks e-Power mechanical configuration is the most versatile and comfortable application for the end user. The Japanese manufacturer places this model as an electric one because it is this generator that sends the driving force to the wheels.

For its part, the combustion engine has the task of generating electrical energy to be stored in the battery and thus drive the generator.

The thermal engine has a displacement of 1.2 liters and the brand details that it produces 80.46 horsepower and 75.98 lb-ft of torque, but both figures do not directly impact the mobility of the car because the power source is not associated with the tires.

For its part, the electric motor generates 134 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. For its part, the lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 2.06 kW, which, as you will see, is very little but does not require more capacity since it is constantly being recharged by the combustion engine.

During this first contact, there are details of his driving that stand out and that place Kicks at another level of performance to which we were accustomed.

In the first place is the acceleration and reaction capacity because due to its electric propulsion, the delivery of force is immediate. The second has to do with the adaptation work that the Mexican engineers did.

This version already exists in Japan but in that country the combustion engine works constantly and at the same speed.

For Mexico, the feeling is completely different because the engine, its operation and therefore its sound, depend on the degree of pressure on the accelerator.

For their part, the brakes have a regenerative task and their function is also supported by the s-Step, which, by regulating the level of resistance to advance, the driver is limited to adjusting the accelerator, since when it is released the vehicle loses speed, regenerating Battery.

Nissan establishes among the official data a combined consumption of 23.3 km/l while in the city it is 24.8 km/l.
