TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 14 Florida State football team delivered a historically dominant performance on Saturday, overwhelming East Texas A&M 77-3 at Doak Campbell Stadium to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The victory was a record-setting affair for the Seminoles, who scored a touchdown on their first 10 drives—a program first. The 74-point margin of victory and 11 total touchdowns both tied school records. FSU’s 729 total yards marked its highest output since 2000, and its 416 yards in the first half set a new high for any team in the nation this season.
Wide receiver Duce Robinson had a career day, setting personal bests with five receptions for 173 yards and two touchdowns. His 160 receiving yards in the first quarter alone established a new FSU record. Quarterback Tommy Castellanos was highly efficient, completing 8 of 11 passes for 237 yards and three touchdowns. During the game, he surpassed 4,000 career passing yards.
The ground game was equally potent, led by running back Gavin Sawchuk, who scored three first-half touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving) while amassing 88 total yards. Samuel Singleton Jr. was the team’s leading rusher with 82 yards and a touchdown on just four carries. This marks the first time since 2013 that FSU has rushed for over 230 yards with at least four rushing touchdowns in consecutive games.
The Seminole defense suffocated the East Texas A&M offense, registering nine tackles-for-loss, three sacks, and two interceptions. The performance extended the team’s streak to 13 consecutive games with at least 5.0 tackles-for-loss and nine straight home games without allowing a rushing touchdown.
Florida State set the tone from the outset, with Sawchuk capping the opening drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. Explosive plays followed, as Castellanos connected with Robinson for an 82-yard touchdown on a single-play drive and later for a 42-yard score to build a 21-0 lead after the first quarter.
The second quarter saw the defense create scoring opportunities. An interception by Earl Little Jr. led to another 1-yard Sawchuk touchdown. Later, a pick by Jerry Wilson set up a 53-yard touchdown run by Micahi Danzy. A touchdown pass from Kevin Sperry to Jayvan Boggs capped a 28-point quarter and gave the Seminoles a 49-0 halftime lead.
FSU continued its scoring barrage in the second half, with Brock Glenn connecting for touchdown passes to Amaree Williams and Ousmane Kromah, while Singleton Jr. and Zay Parks added rushing scores. East Texas A&M’s only points came on a field goal in the fourth quarter following a rare FSU turnover.
Following the win, Florida State will have a bye week before hosting Kent State at Doak Campbell Stadium on September 20.
