At a live awards ceremony in Las Vegas, the first-ever North America’s 50 Best Restaurants list was unveiled, celebrating top culinary talent from the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean. New York’s Atomix was awarded the No. 1 spot, followed by Mon Lapin in Montreal at No. 2 and Restaurant Pearl Morissette in Jordan Station, Canada, at No. 3.
The event marks the debut of a new regional ranking from the World’s 50 Best Restaurants organization, which also produces influential lists for Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East & North Africa.
All five restaurants from the region that previously featured on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list also secured a place on this new ranking. Atomix led the pack, with SingleThread from Healdsburg, California, at No. 8. New York’s Le Bernardin and César placed at No. 9 and No. 38 respectively, while Atelier Crenn of San Francisco was ranked No. 46. The Caribbean was represented by Buzo Osteria Italiana in Barbados (No. 41) and Stush in the Bush in Jamaica (No. 49).
Several special awards were also presented. Detroit’s Ladder 4 won the Resy One to Watch Award, and Tanière 3 in Quebec City received the Art of Hospitality Award. The Champions of Change Award was given to One Love Community Fridge, a New York-based non-profit.
