New York (Trends Wide Business) – Starbucks lovers can now order Taylor Swift’s favorite drink with just two words.
Customers who order “Taylor’s Latte” or “Taylor’s Version” will receive the singer’s favorite beverage: a large coffee with skim milk and caramel. This latest collaboration between a fast food chain and a celebrity is launched to celebrate both the launch of Starbucks red holiday mugs and the relaunch of Swift’s “Red” album.
Starbucks has been leaving cryptic clues of the collaboration on its Twitter account. On November 8, the singer’s fans, swifties, they noticed a tweet from Starbucks saying it was “red season”, a nod to the title of their album. The promotion, which begins this Friday, is also available on the Starbucks app.
The promotion is scheduled with the release of the 2012 reissue of the album “Red” this Friday.
Swift is re-recording and releasing her previous albums because she now owns the master recordings of her songs. For most of her career, Swift had a contract with Big Machine Records. When that ended, in 2018, the singer signed a new deal with Universal Music Group, which granted her ownership of her master recordings going forward.
Starbucks is the latest restaurant chain to harness the power of a celebrity to drive sales. Swift’s favorite drink is already on the menu, so the promotion builds buzz without adding cost or extra work for employees.
Last week, McDonald’s announced a partnership with singer Mariah Carey for a special menu and Tim Horton partnered with Justin Bieber for a limited-edition donut selection called “Timbiebs Timbits.”
