Nuevo León hoteliers reject the increase in the Lodging Tax in 2023

Monterrey, NL. One of the sectors hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and by the water crisis in Nuevo León were hotels. In the discussion that takes place in the local Congress, it is intended to increase the Lodging Taxes (ISH), as well as other taxes.

The president of the Mexican Association of Hotels of Nuevo León (AMHNL), Jesús Nader rejected this proposal, saying that currently the state collects around 150 million pesos for the ISH with the 3% that has been collected since 2015, and if it increases 1% more, it would be around 50 million pesos. additional.

“They have not asked us or said anything directly about the possibility of increasing the Lodging Tax, it would be a mistake to increase it because we are just getting out of the crisis,” he told the local press.

He assured that this will directly affect the hotel sector, which could not increase its rates for its clients.
