Number of intentional homicides in Sinaloa, is the lowest in 30 years

Culiacán, Sinaloa, January 2, 2023.- According to figures released by the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, Sinaloa ranks 27th in national crime incidence, registering 3,453 total crimes During 2022, when at the beginning of the current administration of Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, the entity was in site number 25 in this same indicator.

These data were released by Governor Rocha during his first Weekly Conference this year, where he also explained that a 50 percent reduction in femicides was obtained compared to the year 2021, when a total of 42 were registered, against 21 occurred up to the end of the year that has just ended.

Another significant reduction was registered in the crime of intentional homicides, with a decrease of 21 percent, since the accumulated of 2021 accounted for 603 cases, while at the end of 2022 there were 475 homicides.

“This is a graph disseminated by national media, this is the place we have – 27 – in criminal incidence, and what we are interested in reflecting is that Sinaloa cannot be had, although some insist on having it, such as the of the “Warning”, in the place that they had it before as an insecure state”, he specified.

Governor Rocha specified that the global effort of his government has Sinaloa in the 27th place of this crime incidence table, only before Guerrero, Nayarit, Yucatán Chiapas and Tlaxcala.

“Well, this is a graph that encourages us because we are advancing, and the same is happening with the case of Culiacán,” said the governor, while the Secretary of Public Security, Cristóbal Castañeda Camarillo, reported that Culiacán is now in third place in state criminal incidence, after Ahome, and the first place that Mazatlán occupies.

The state president referred to the rest of the SESNSP statistics in which the behavior of three crimes in particular is analyzed during the first year of government of the last four state administrations, that of Jesús Aguilar Padilla (2005), Mario López Valdez ( 2011), Quirino Ordaz Coppel (2017) and the current one of Rubén Rocha Moya (2022), being the crimes of intentional homicide, femicide and vehicle theft.
