Oasis guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs has announced he is taking a temporary leave from the band’s reunion tour to receive treatment for prostate cancer.
In an Instagram post on October 3, Arthurs disclosed that he was diagnosed with the illness earlier this year and will be taking a “planned break for the next phase of my care.” He confirmed he is “responding really well” to the treatment.
As a result, the guitarist will not perform at upcoming tour stops in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney. However, he plans to rejoin Oasis for their South American dates in November.
“I’m really sad to be missing these shows but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America,” Arthurs stated. “Have an amazing time if you’re going this month and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November.”
This is Arthurs’ second cancer diagnosis. In April 2022, he took a break from music after being diagnosed with tonsil cancer. He announced he was cancer-free in September of that year following successful treatment.
The “Oasis Live ’25” tour is the band’s first since their contentious breakup in 2009. The tour kicked off in Wales this past July before moving to North America in August for a series of highly anticipated shows.
