Madrid, Spain, January 19, 2022.- Governor Alejandro Murat Hinojosa participates in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2022, which takes place in Madrid, Spain, to lead the entity’s tourism promotion efforts that allow capturing a greater influx of international tourists and economic benefits for the families directly and indirectly related to this productive sector.

In this context, Murat Hinojosa greeted King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia, whom he presented on behalf of the people of Oaxaca with a bear alebrije, an animal representative of the city of Madrid. The work was created by artisans Jacobo and María Ángeles, from San Martín Tilcajete, who also made the piece “Winged Wolf” that serves as an icon of the entire Mexico pavilion and that could be taken to Fitur thanks to the support of Aeroméxico.
“Oaxaqueño alebrijes have become an internationally recognized emblem, attracting the attention of the whole world to our culture. I thank Aeroméxico for having made it possible for this work ‘Winged Wolf’ to be here today, highlighting the talent of artisans from all over Oaxaca”, he highlighted.
Likewise, together with Julio Gamero, general director of TAG, the State President announced the opening of a direct flight between Guatemala City and Oaxaca as of April 1, which will have three weekly frequencies. For his part, Julio Gamero announced that the feasibility of opening one more route to connect Guatemala with Bahías de Huatulco is being analyzed.
