German Sami Khedira, winner of the 2014 FIFA World Cup with the “Manshafts” team, joined the ranks of Hertha Berlin on Monday, coming from Italian club Juventus.
Khedira said in a statement, “I feel that I am in a very good condition physically and I want to help Herta through my experience to achieve success,” without revealing the details of the deal.
Hertha Berlin is seeking to strengthen its ranks in order to avoid relegation from the German first division, and dispensed the services of coach Bruno Labadia and appointed Bal Darday in his place last week, due to the deterioration of his results.
They have won only once in their last nine league matches and have lost their last three consecutive matches.
Businessman Lars Findhurst has invested more than 200 million euros in the club over the past year, but the team is still in 15th place, level with Armenia Bielefeld, who is 16th and struggling with relegation.
It is noteworthy that Sami Khedira, 33, started his career with the German team Stuttgart, and played for Real Madrid for five years before joining Juventus in 2015.
