The AFC announced today, Thursday, that the 18th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, hosted by China, will be held from June 16 to July 16, 2023.
China will host the championships in ten cities with the participation of 24 teams over a period of 31 days.
The tournament is being held in China for the second time, after it was held there for the first time in 2004.
AFC Secretary General Windsor John said: “We are confident that the next championship in China will be the largest and most wonderful in the history of Asian football … We know that the organizing committee and the Chinese Football Association will organize a historic tournament in 2023.”
The 2019 edition, hosted by the UAE and crowned by the Qatar national team, was the first tournament held every four years with the participation of 24 teams instead of 16.
