The private oil companies of the country, which in August managed to maintain national oil production without decline thanks to the fact that through their largest contracts they reached their historical maximums, will maintain the pace of investments made and approved in the country, as they are considered “the protagonists of today” in this industry that is gradually recovering, according to the Mexican Association of Hydrocarbons Companies (Amexhi).
According to Merlín Cochran, general director of Amexhi, the investments approved by the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) and that will be carried out this year by private oil companies will increase as planned, despite the fact that services become more expensive according to inflation derived from the fact that the price of oil has risen significantly in the last two decades.
“When there was a brake (on the investment made) per se and the CNH itself reflected it in its extensions, it was during the Covid 19 period and this will have lasted 13 months in extensions, there you did see a brake on investments made,” he said in interview, “the oil companies in Mexico, especially those that are represented in the Amexhi, are in the exploration period and that is why the price of a barrel is not a topic of conversation in their parent companies because the bet is on 15 more years ”.
This Monday the presentation of the second edition of the book “The Energy of a People: Testimonies of a shared commitment” was held where Evelyn Vilchez, who currently holds the position of president of the Amexhi in addition to being a country manager since 2017 of Chevron Energía de México, explained that the text consists of the work of 11 member operators in matters of social and environmental protection.
The book includes 50 social and environmental investment projects that were carried out in 24 states.
The 11 companies that submitted their testimonies for the book are: Woodside Energy (which now operates the Trión field after acquiring the Australian BHP Billiton), Chevron, DS Servicios Petroleros, ENI, Hokchi, Jaguar, Petronas, Repsol, Shell, Total and Wintershall DEA and its partners.
