Today, Wednesday, Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq issued a royal decree to ratify an economic agreement with the State of Qatar regarding the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion with regard to taxes on income and capital.

The Royal Decree decided to publish it in the Official Gazette, and to implement it from the date of its issuance.
Last November, Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman signed in the capital, Doha, joint cooperation agreements in the fields of mutual investments, tourism and taxes, in addition to military cooperation.
The agreements included an agreement on military cooperation aimed at strengthening military relations between the two countries, and an agreement on avoiding double taxation and preventing tax evasion with regard to taxes on income and capital.
It also included a memorandum of understanding in the field of work and human resource development, a cooperation agreement in the field of investment between the Qatar Investment Authority and the Oman Investment Authority, a cooperation agreement in the field of tourism and hotels, and an agreement in the field of maritime transport and ports.
