One person was hospitalized with minor injuries following a two-vehicle collision in rural Cedar Rapids on Tuesday evening. According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 13 and Mount Vernon Road at approximately 5:23 p.m.
First responders arrived to find a Ford Edge and a GMC Terrain, both with significant front-end damage, blocking the intersection.
An investigation determined the crash occurred when the driver of the Ford, a 64-year-old woman from Anamosa, failed to yield while turning from eastbound Mount Vernon Road onto northbound Highway 13. Her vehicle collided with the GMC, which was traveling westbound on Mount Vernon Road.
The driver of the GMC was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the Ford was not injured but was cited for failure to yield.
