On Thursday evening, the Palestinian authorities closed the Bethlehem Governorate in the West Bank, and imposed internal and external restrictions to stop the spread of the Corona virus inside the governorate.
The Palestinian police said, “The security establishment in the Bethlehem governorate began implementing the governor’s decision to completely close the governorate, from Thursday evening until next Sunday morning.”
The police confirmed that they “began to tighten preventive measures to prevent movement through the setting up of barriers, the massive deployment of security forces, limiting movement at the entrances to the governorate, and separating the main cities from each other.”
It also pledged to “take legal measures against violators and non-compliance with the decisions and instructions issued, and to refer them to the competent authority to take the legal requirement against them in the proper manner.”
In turn, the Ministry of Interior in the Gaza Strip warned of “citizens’ leniency in dealing with the necessary preventive measures,” calling on them to take all preventive measures in light of the high number of injuries in the Strip.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Interior in Gaza, Iyad Al-Bazam, said, Thursday evening, that “in the event that the curve of Coronavirus infection continues to rise in the Strip, the ministry will take greater measures in the next stage.
Al-Bazm added, “All scenarios exist. We cannot continue with the procedures at the same pace, and we take measures based on the evaluation of the epidemiological situation.”
He continued, “We have not yet made a decision to close any sectors, but the matter is related to the commitment of citizens.”
