The Palestinian Ministry of Health condemned the Israeli army’s assault on the sanctity of the Palestine Medical Complex, and its wounding of a woman with a rubber bullet in the shoulder, and an ambulance man with a rubber bullet in his hand inside the compound’s compound.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Mai Al-Keela, said that the Israeli forces stormed the vicinity of the medical complex at about 4:30 am, and fired bullets and tear gas canisters inside the compound, which led to two injuries with rubber bullets, in addition to cases of suffocation and panic among the patients, especially children. Of them, and damage to an ambulance vehicle belonging to the compound.
The Minister Al-Keela added that what increased the seriousness of the situation was the presence of patients suffering from Corona virus being treated in a department designated for them, stressing that their lives were in imminent danger as a result of the teargas bombs that were fired inside the compound.
She said that the sick children and women in the maternity wards lived a terrifying night in every sense of the word, due to the sounds of bullets, stun grenades and tear gas fired towards the medical complex.
Al-Keela emphasized that this grave assault on the sanctity of the hospital and inflicting injuries on patients requires urgent international intervention to protect our people and hold the State of Israel accountable for its crime, and its violation of international law and international humanitarian law, which provides for the protection of patients, medical staff, health centers and hospitals.
The Minister of Health indicated that this attack is the second carried out by the Israeli forces on hospitals within two days, as Al-Durra Hospital in the Gaza Strip was damaged by Israeli shelling, which resulted in the injury of dozens of sick children and their companions, in addition to damage to the contents of the hospital.
