The benches of the PAN, AT y PRD on the Chamber of Deputies announced the revival of the alliance”Goes through Mexico” to vote against the electoral reform proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as well as to defend the renewal process of four electoral advisers and fight in the elections of the State of Mexico and Coahuila.
By arguing that the presidential initiative in electoral matters violates the autonomy of the INE and the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF), the parliamentary coordinators of those caucuses led by Jorge Romero (PAN), Ruben Moreira (AT) and Luis Espinosa Cházaro (PRD), announced the reunion of the Va por México coalition.
“It is a reunion, if you allow me that word, of the parliamentary coalition Goes through Mexico (…) There will be no constitutional reform in electoral matters, at least not on this occasion, because it revolves around recognizing, I insist, that we have to take care of our electoral referees, as the people ask us to do,” said Jorge Romero Herrera, coordinator of the PAN, at a joint press conference in San Lázaro.
The opposition deputies rejected the existence of a negotiation regarding a package of secondary laws, since they are not yet aware of them.
They also announced the reunion of the coalition “Goes through Mexico”and that they will walk together in the renewal process of the four electoral advisers whose constitutional term is coming to an end next year, where they asserted that it would be a mistake by Morena, if, as political revenge for not achieving the electoral reform, he tried to impose these.
The PRI leader Ruben Moreira Valdezsaid that his bench will vote together with the PAN and the PRD against the political-electoral reform of the President of the Republic, since it damages the INE and to federal and state electoral courts.
In addition, he said, there is a working group to analyze the issue and there has been no progress, much less in the commissions that are responsible for ruling.
Moreira Valdez assured that the dialogue in the coalition has never been broken “Goes through Mexico” and he commented that it is normal that in a place where there are legislative processes there are differences, since the parties have different histories and ideologies, but also many coincidences.
Deputy Luis Espinosa Cházaro, coordinator of the parliamentary group of the PRDassured that his bench will vote against the electoral reform and the constitutional modifications that he presents Morena that they go against the democratic life of the country, which for more than 30 years his party has defended.
“We will walk together to reject any constitutional reform that harms the nation, I mean in electoral matters, and we will also walk together to seek democratic mechanisms for the appointment of councilors that will come next year,” said the PRD deputy.
Likewise, he celebrated that the coordinators of the PAN, PRI and PRD can be present and that in difficult moments there has always been dialogue and respect.
Consulted about the march called by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, on November 27, to defend his government’s policies, the parliamentary leaders agreed that it is a reaction to the mobilization last Sunday, in defense of the INE, but they have every right to demonstrate, as long as it is in an orderly and peaceful manner, without affecting particular, personal, and property interests of the rest of the citizens.
They trusted that people would attend voluntarily, spontaneously and not see hundreds of trucks mobilized by the Federal Government and with public resources.
Finally, they did not rule out that the coalition “going through mexico” can reach the elections of 2023 and 2024.
“We are convinced of what the government’s job is, the government’s job is to break this coalition and I think that the job of those of us who are in this coalition is to maintain it and each one to his job… and of course that has a sequence logically an electoral coalition for the state of Mexico, for Coahuila and everything that comes,” said the PAN deputy, Jorge Romero Herrera.
