West Australian Premier Mark McGowan (pictured above) had confirmed lockdown will end at Friday at 6pm
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, McGowan praised residents in Western Australia for their diligence the past few days.
‘Full credit to everyone in lockdown, the response has been enormous,’ he said.
‘Four days with zero local cases shows just how seriously people are treating this scenario.
‘If we managed a fifth day with no (local) cases tomorrow, we will lift restrictions and the lockout will end.’
McGowan also said on Wednesday said the full lockdown would end if WA continued to record zero cases.
‘I want the WA community to understand that if we do continue on a zero streak through to Friday, the full lockdown will end,’ he said.
‘However, like we have seen in other states, some form of restrictions will be necessary for the following week or so.
‘Based on health advice, we know this virus can linger, so even though we could potentially have no community transmission come Friday, it does not mean we are 100 per cent in the clear.’
