Between controversies and protections, Fibra Danhos affirmed that its new MallParque Tepeyac, is finished and ready to open its doors for the end of the year season.
Built in the Gustavo A. Madero mayor’s office in Mexico City, the project will have an area of 120,000 square meters of commercial area, in addition, it promises to have the “largest aquarium in Latin America.”
“We are pleased to inform you that Parque Tepeyac has been completed and is expected to open in the first half of November. It has been very well received by our tenants and its commercialization is continuously increasing”, said Salvador Daniel Kabbaz Zaga, CEO of Fibra Danhos.
Through the financial report for the third quarter of 2022, the company detailed that the cultural and entertainment area of the property is still under construction, so said area will be inaugurated in the second quarter of 2023.
Animalists oppose
The opening of the Tepeyac Park was put at risk in September of this year, when residents of the Gustavo A. Madero mayor’s office, together with the animal civil association “Va por sus Derechos”, opposed the construction of the 30,000 square meter aquarium.
The protesters argued that this Entertaiment center threatens animal welfare, so a judge granted an injunction to stop the work.
However, Fibra Danhos has reiterated that the commercial complex will open in early November. So far, the stores confirmed to be installed are Liverpool, Sears, Suburbia, Cinepolis, Walmart Exprés and the Smart Fit gym.
Influx and rising rent
After a crisis in the commercial sector, derived from confinement during the Covid-19 pandemic, Salvador Daniel Kabbaz Zaga assured that the reactivation of the activity is being consolidated.
In the case of Fibra Danhos’ retail properties, the occupancy rate was 85.6% during the third quarter of the year.
Likewise, an influx of 24.2 million visitors was reported during the quarter, which represents an increase of 31.6% compared to the previous year and more than one million attendees than the immediately previous quarter.
“Upward trends continue as visitor traffic continues to improve over the past few years. malls. The leasing activity improves and will continue to increase the level of occupancy and influx”, added Kabbaz Zaga.
It is worth mentioning that Fibra Danhos owns other malls located in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico, such as Parque Delta, Parque Tezontle, Parque Las Antenas, Parque Lindavista and Parque Duraznos.
The latter is undergoing renovation, which will also be ready in the coming weeks with a “modern and functional lifestyle center” proposal, according to the firm.
