You do not need to be a fan of the Boston Celtics to be dialed in to the meteoric rise of backup Boston combo guard Payton Pritchard this season. Coming out of the relative obscurity of the Celtics’ deep rotation (so deep in fact, it was not all that long ago the West Linn, Oregon native was pushing for a trade to a team with more playing time), Pritchard now finds himself at the front of the race for the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award.
He might even have a shot to win the league’s Most Improved Player award for the season as well, and fans of opposing fan bases are taking note as their favorite team’s defenses panic when he is on the court.
