Following a banner year in 2025, Pedro Pascal is in negotiations to star in Behemoth!, a new Searchlight Pictures film from writer-director Tony Gilroy. While the deal is not yet finalized, sources indicate discussions are progressing positively.
Searchlight recently acquired the project, which Gilroy will write, direct, and produce alongside Sanne Wohlenberg. Plot details are being kept under wraps, though Gilroy has mentioned the story revolves around a cellist. Principal photography is scheduled to begin this fall in Los Angeles, with release plans to be announced later.
The potential casting comes after a highly successful summer for Pascal, who starred in Celine Song’s Materialists, Ari Aster’s Eddington, and Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps. All three films earned critical acclaim, with Fantastic Four delivering Marvel’s biggest opening of 2025 and launching the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Pascal recently wrapped production on Avengers: Doomsday and is set to reprise his role as Din Djarin in Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, both slated for a 2026 release. His other recent film credits include Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II, Freaky Tales, and Pedro Almodóvar’s A Strange Way of Life.
On television, Pascal recently earned a Lead Actor Emmy nomination for the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us. This follows his Emmy and Golden Globe nominations and a Screen Actors Guild Award win for his performance in the show’s first season.
Gilroy is coming off the acclaimed final season of Andor, which received an Emmy nomination for Best Drama.
Pascal is represented by CAA and Jackoway Austin.
