Pemex exported 1.21 million barrels of crude oil each day in September

The volume of oil exports from Pemex rose in September compared to the previous month while crude oil production remained stable at 1.77 million barrels per day (bpd).

The state giant reported that it exported 1.21 million barrels per day of crude oil (Maya and Isthmus) compared to 914,665 bpd in August. The figure was also up from 983,000 bpd in September last year.

And while foreign sales continued to be mainly to “Americas” in September, they were down 14% to 579,840 bpd from August, according to its most recent weekend report.

In contrast, crude oil shipments destined for Europe shot up 85% in the month to 149,734 bpd and to the “Far East” 80% to 292,008 bpd. The average price of the Mexican export mix in September was 82.36 dollars per barrel, lower than the previous months.

The Mexican government, which had said that this year it would drastically reduce oil exports to refine at home and produce necessary fuels locally, took advantage of the rise in the price of hydrocarbons after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and kept those exports above 900,000 bpd to capitalize higher income for that concept.

And although Pemex said only on Friday that the crude process in the six local refineries has grown to an average of about 800,000 bpd, the same oil company reported that in September it was 779,664 bpd from 820,000 the previous month.

Fuel oil production reached its highest level of the year in the ninth month of 278,888 bpd, above the 242,000 bpd of gasoline, which fell slightly in the month. Pemex reported that fuel oil sales to the domestic market totaled 64,000 bpd and exports 170,800 bpd.
