Pension advisors come into operation in 2023

The Retirement Savings System (SAR) will have a new figure to guide workers in 2023 with the creation of the pension advisor. This figure will replace the promoters and service agents as of January 1 of next year.

In February, it was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation that the pension advisor will seek to promote pension education to savers so that they can make the best decisions regarding their retirement account.

Moisés Peñaloza, head of retirement and financial well-being for Latin America at Aon, a risk management and human capital consultancy, told El Economista that the creation of pension advisors is a good attempt to professionalize and train the promotional force of the administrators. of funds for retirement (afores).

However, the analyst qualified that it will be necessary to see the effect that the pension advisor will have on the saver in terms of the new advice that he must be providing.

“You have to see how far they implement knowledge in terms of information and knowledge reaching savers; and that it not only remain as a mandatory process to be able to be a pension advisor and end up being the same commercial practices ”, he said.

The analyst explained that a good thermometer to know if the pension advisors would be fulfilling their function is to ask the workers directly, although it could be something complex to carry out.

They will no longer charge commission for transfers

Another substantial change between pension advisors and promoters is that they will no longer charge a commission for transferring accounts, but for registering accounts and promoting voluntary savings. This change in the remuneration regime affects about 43,395 promoters registered in the SAR.
