Peso appreciates in market attentive to Zelenski’s visit to the United States

The Mexican peso is appreciated before the American dollar this Wednesday morning. The local currency is gaining ground due to a positive momentum for the markets, which are looking at the visit of the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelensky, to USA.

The exchange rate spot It is located at the level of 19.6995 units per dollar against an official closing record of 19.7827 units yesterday, with the data of the Bank of Mexico (Banxico). This means a gain of 8.32 cents or 0.42 percent for the peso.

The crossing operates in a limited range between a maximum of 19.7827 units and a minimum of 19.6928 units. The Dollar Index (DXY), which compares the greenback to a basket of the remaining six G7 currencies, gained 0.19% to 104.16.

“The market’s concerns remain the same and it is attentive to the visit of the Ukrainian president to the United States. In addition, they continue to digest the decision of the Bank of Japan and its repercussions on the money market,” said local CI Bank.

Attention was also directed to the release of figures related to consumer inflation in Mexico and the United States in the week, after some central banks signaled that their fight against inflation is not over yet.
