The Mexican peso loses ground against the US dollar. The local currency falls pending a speech by the president of the Federal Reserve American (Fed) Jerome Powell, who will give a long-awaited speech.
Traders await the words of the central banker, when the market awaits the publication of important inflation figures in the United States, on Wednesday, that will give them clues about their next movements.
The exchange rate stands at 20.4451 units against a close of 20.3896 units per dollar yesterday, with the data of Bank of Mexico (Banxico). This means a loss of 5.55 cents, equivalent to 0.27 percent.
The cross operates in a limited range between a maximum of 20.4554 units and a minimum of 20.3575 units. The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the greenback against a basket of six coins, advances 0.07% to 96.06 points.
“Markets are watching for comments from Fed members and Powell’s confirmation hearing in the Senate as president of the central bank for a second term starting in February,” Banorte said.
