Philadelphia is reeling after the Eagles lost 38-35 to the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl LVII in yet another miserable, and historic, moment for the city.Â
Try as Jalen Hurts and Co. might, Philadelphia could not go one better than its other sports teams, who also fell at the final hurdle in their respective final games this season.Â
The loss meant Philadelphia is the first city in history to lose three consecutive sports titles.Â
Back in November, during a dreadful 24 hours for The City of Brotherly Love, the Phillies lost the World Series 4-2 to the Houston Astros, while the Union were on the losing side of a penalty shootout against Los Angeles FC in the MLSÂ Cup final.
Despite their impressive seasons all three teams will not be remembered for their heroics, rather the moments which cost them glory.Â

In the minds of Philadelphia fans, the Super Bowl loss will be marred by a controversial holding call against Pro Bowl cornerback James Bradberry, which gave Kansas City a critical first down and allowed them to wind down the clock.Â
The Chiefs went ahead thanks to a Harrison Butker field goal with just 0:08 remaining and left one play for an Eagles miracle which did not arrive.
While it may currently be doom-and-gloom for the city, its NBA team – the 76ers – remain in playoff contention in the Eastern Conference.Â
With James Harden and Joel Embiid at the helm, Philadelphia (36-19) sit third in the conference, just five wins behind Boston.Â
For a large portion of the Super Bowl it looked as if the Eagles would be claiming their second Lombardi Trophy in six years.Â
Jalen Hurts, in particular, was mesmerizing and would have been the certain Super Bowl MVP had Philadelphia pulled off the win.Â
The dynamic quarterback finished 27/38 for 304 yards and a touchdown. He was even more impressive on the ground, running 15 times for 70 yards and three touchdowns.
He set a record, becoming the first quarterback to rush for three touchdowns in a Super Bowl.Â
Sunday night was history-making for Philadelphia… just not in the manner they had wished.Â
