A mother-of-three who was stabbed to death in a town centre street has been described as ‘the brightest light of any room’.
Friends of Courtney Mitchell, 26, paid tribute to her as a GoFundMe appeal was launched for funeral costs to help her ‘get the best send off’.
Ms Mitchell was found fighting for her life with serious stab wounds at 7.10pm on Wednesday in Burrell Road, Ipswich, Suffolk.
The mother of three children – aged eight, four and two – was taken to hospital where she died of her injuries a short time later.
Police launched a manhunt for her cold-hearted killer and arrested a 27-year-old man in Ipswich yesterday on suspicion of her murder.

The man is still being quizzed at the Police Investigation Centre at Martlesham near Ipswich.
Officers have also reportedly found two knives close to the scene and they are undergoing forensic tests.
The GoFundMe appeal, organised by Brandon Black who claims to be the father of one of her sons, has a £7,000 target and has so far raised nearly £3,000.
Brandon said in a message accompanying the appeal: ‘Hello everyone. I’m fundraising for my son’s mother Courtney who was brutally murdered on the 6th of August.
‘She was a mother to 3 before a horrible human took her life. I just want her to have the best send of for her and the family, and to support our children. I love you Courtney Jaye Mitchell. Help my sons mother get the best send off.’
A moving tribute posted on Facebook by a friend of Courtney said: ‘The brightest light of any room, a mother, daughter, sister and an aunty to the most precious souls just as herself.
‘I hope you find your peace you were too good for this world and the monsters that lurk amongst us. You were so loved and by so many.
‘Please find in your hearts to try dig deep and give a donation. She didn’t deserve her ending and her family either.
‘The least we can all do is help to provide a beautiful send off. One deserving of her and her children. Forever in my heart.’
The scene where Ms Mitchell was found was cordoned off by police, along with a nearby skate park and paths along the banks of the River Orwell at the rear of Burrell Road.

Flight tracker records also show that a National Police Air Service fixed wing P68R aircraft spent nearly three hours circling over central Ipswich on Wednesday night after being scrambled from its base at East Midlands Airport.
A friend of Ms Mitchell said that she had suffered injuries in an earlier incident and had recently split up from her partner.
In another incident in recent days, her home is said to have been damaged after water pipes were deliberately broken.
Ipswich’s newly elected Labour MP Jack Abbott urged anyone with information to contact police.
He said: ‘My thoughts are with the young woman, her loved ones and our wider Ipswich community following this appalling tragedy.
‘I want to thank the police and emergency services for their response, and I know they are working around the clock to ensure the person responsible faces the full force of the law.
‘I urge anyone with information that may help the police progress this murder investigation to contact the police, but to refrain from online speculation while the investigation is still ongoing.’
Phil Smart, an Ipswich borough councillor for the area, said: ‘This is a truly horrific incident, and our thoughts go out to the victim and those close to her.
‘Ipswich Borough Council are helping the police search through CCTV footage to identify the person or persons responsible.’
Superintendent Andy Martin of Suffolk Police said: ‘Residents will continue to see an increased police presence in the area as our investigation continues.
‘While we remain in the early stages of our enquiries, we believe the victim and the suspect are known to each other.
‘We would continue to urge anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant you may feel it may be, to contact us.’
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact police.
