Arnott’s have confirmed pineapple does belong on pizza with a controversial new product drop disguised as an April Fool’s Day prank
An Arnott’s spokesperson said Pizza Shapes are one of the company’s top-selling products so it made sense to build on that.
‘While we know the concept of pineapple on pizza is highly controversial, it’s also loved by many,’ Arnott’s marketing manager Shannon Wright said.
He said announcing the new product on the morning of April 1 was a ploy to ‘keep the fans guessing’.
And it worked.
Biscuit lovers were divided over the product’s existence when the announcement was first made.
‘I know this is an April fool’s but I would totally eat that,’ one man wrote on the company’s post.
‘I am not falling for it this year,’ one woman said – to which Arnott’s replied ‘go on, take a tumble,’ hinting the advertisement was real.
The company then announced the new Shapes flavour is real and will be in stores in May
Some were disgusted by the idea of a sweet pineapple taste being added to their Pizza Shapes.
‘I know this is a joke but i am triggered,’ one woman wrote.
‘I am torn, I need to try every new Shapes product but.. pineapple,’ one man said.
Others were delighted.
‘I was actually excited. These would be far tastier than the cheeseburger,’ one woman said.
‘These would be delicious,’ another said.
While others said they missed the old ‘ham and pineapple’ Shapes which they hope will taste similar to the new Hawaiian snacks.
This year has been huge already, for Shapes lovers, who were gifted with three ‘comfort food’ flavours in January.
The flavours were inspired by things Australian’s love and are available across the country.
From Triple Cheese Toastie to Sizzling Steak and Onion and Double Cheeseburger – the three flavours proved to be a hit.

The three cheese flavours in the Triple Cheese Toastie flavour are cheddar, mozzarella and Parmesan.
The Sizzling Steak and Onion flavour is reminiscent of a steak sandwich with a smokey, salty steak flavour followed by the taste of caramalised onions.
The Double Cheeseburger tastes like melted cheese, grilled beef, mustard and onion, according to Arnott’s spokesperson.
‘We know Aussies love Shapes and are all about the flavour hit which is why we are constantly trialing new and exciting flavours that leave fans wanting more,’ Shannon Wright, Arnott’s Marketing Manager, for savoury said.
‘We know the people love the taste of a steak sandwich, a burger and a toastie.’

The cheese burger flavour will be available at Coles as well as independent retailers.
The new launch comes after the Chicken Parmi flavour was added earlier this year.
