A plane with 21 people on board crashed this Tuesday in Texas. The Waller Harris County Sheriff’s Office said on its Facebook page that the plane rushed shortly after taking off from the Houston Executive Airport, but that there was only one minor injury. The plane caught fire just after the evacuation of the passengers.
The twin-engine McDonnell Douglas was carrying a group of people who were going to attend the baseball game between the Houston Astros and the Boston Red Sox that night. Tim Gibson, director of emergency services at Waller Harris, has noted that the passengers “were stunned, very stunned, but they got out by themselves.”
According to aerial images of the accident shown by local televisions, the charter plane has been completely destroyed after falling to the ground. Emergency teams have been deployed to the site to participate in rescue work and firefighters to extinguish the fire that broke out in the apparatus when it crashed. The flames were put out “after substantial effort” by firefighters, Gibson said. At the moment, the causes of this event are unknown.
