JMorant is a doubt for the rest of the playoffs after an MRI he has undergone has discovered a bruise on the bone of his right knee. A hard blow for the Grizzlies, who will be without their star for sure in the fifth game against the Warriors, in which they try to avoid elimination.
The injury stems from a fourth-quarter play in Game 3 of the tie, when Jordan Poole caught Morant in the right knee as he tried to get the ball. The NBA saw no reason to take disciplinary action, but the Grizzlies believe that was the play that caused the injury and upset all plans of the Memphis.
The Grizzlies, however, managed just fine in Morant’s absence during the regular season. His balance without the point guard was 20-5. But he has been decisive in the hot moments of the games. He leads the NBA in scoring in the last minutes of the game with 42 points in these playoffs and was averaging 38.3 points, 8.3 assists and 6.7 rebounds in this second round against the Warriors.
