(Trends Wide Español) — A Texas mother on Thursday urged local police to speed up investigations and determine what happened to her 16-year-old daughter, found shot to death Tuesday in a Houston neighborhood.
According to the story of Ana Machado, Diamond Álvarez’s mother, she left the house to walk her dog —something she usually did— when a family member who was present at the home heard several shots. Minutes later, the animal returned home alone and the family began to suspect that something bad had happened. When they came out they found the teenager lying on the ground with several bullet wounds.
Machado told Trends Wide Thursday that he estimates Diamond had between 20 and 30 shots.
Houston Police said in a statement that the teen was found with multiple gunshot wounds, and a team of paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. Witnesses said they heard several shots and then the screeching of tires, as if a car was fleeing the scene.
Police told Trends Wide Thursday that they currently have no identified suspects or a description of a vehicle, and urged people to provide information to authorities.
Trends Wide also reached out to the Harris County Forensic Science Institute, which includes Houston. A spokesman indicated that the status of the case should be consulted on the internet. A query on the website showed that the forensic report was not complete and did not offer details.
“My daughter cannot be left as another victim”
As for the possible motives behind the attack, the Police reported that at the moment there is no specific motive.
Machado, for his part, said he could not comment on it so as not to “spoil the case.” Although, by the way Diamond died, he indicated: “That was hate, they hated her … it’s hate, courage and they wanted to kill her, and they killed her.”
In a telephone interview, the mother asked the authorities “to do their job”
“My daughter cannot be left as another victim, as there are many. They are not going to return her to me, but I also do not want the one who did it to enjoy his life,” he added.
