Police warned Geri Halliwell that the London nail bomb maniac wanted to shoot her dead while she made her debut solo performance at the Brit awards.
Homophobe David Copeland wanted to kill the Spice Girl during her 2000 performance because she was friends with gay artists – including the late George Michael.
Scotland Yard officers went to Halliwell’s house to make their warning clear – but she performed solo single Bag It Up at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre stage in London regardless.
Copeland caused three nail bomb explosions in the space of 13 days in April 1999 – the final of which went off gay pub the Admiral Duncan.

Copeland was found guilty of three counts of murder and three counts of causing explosions in London in order to endanger life. He was slapped with three life sentences after a trial at the Old Bailey in 2000
There, three people – including a pregnant woman – were killed. Copeland was jailed for life in 2000.
Halliwell, 48, told The Sun:Â ‘He threatened to shoot me, and hated the fact I hung out with the gays, and was friends with George Michael.
‘He hated me for camping it up, for loving the gays and for being friends with George.’
But she decided she was ‘not going to be bullied by this’ and defiantly took to the stage.

The blasts went off in Brixton, Brick Lane and finally Soho. Andrea Dykes, 27, John Light, 32, and Nik Moore, 31, died in the final blast which contained 1,500 nails.
Professor Gus McGrouther – a consultant who was on duty at University College Hospital the night of the Soho blast – described the devastation caused by Copeland’s final bomb.Â

He said some injuries were worse than victims of IRA attacks. He told the BBC:Â ‘As the bomb was placed on the floor, there were a lot of bad leg injuries. There were people coming in with their legs partially amputated.’Â
When Copeland was arrested, police found a Nazi flag hanging displayed on the wall of his bedroom – along with disturbing newspaper clippings of his attacks. Â
Halliwell was friends with George Michael, who died on December 24, 2016.
Her now-three-year-old son Montague George is named after the singer.Â
