A poll has shown that the Democratic Party's candidate for the US presidential election Kamala Harris beats republican candidate Donald Trump By 5 points, while the two candidates agreed to hold a debate on September 10.
Harris received 42% support, compared to 37% for Trump, in the Ipsos poll released Thursday.
The poll, which surveyed 2,045 eligible Americans nationwide and was conducted from August 2 to 7, showed that 4 percent of respondents supported independent candidate Robert Kennedy Jr., compared to 10 percent in July.
Harris has extended her lead since a Reuters/Ipsos poll on July 22-23 showed her leading 37 percent to Trump's 34 percent.
This comes at a time when the American network “ABC” announced that Harris and Trump agreed to participate in a televised debate on September 10, before their presidential elections in November.
Earlier Thursday, Trump said he had agreed to hold three debates in September and was awaiting a response from the Harris campaign.
Harris entered the race on July 21 when the president withdrew from the race. Joe Biden (81 years old) and supported her candidacy after a performance described as “disastrous” in a debate against Trump on June 27.
