After missing the entire 20-21 season, Zach Collins still has time to get back on track. The center, who signed with the San Antonio Spurs this summer, is recovering from a broken foot suffered in June, and until now it was uncertain how much this would keep him out of the team. However, Gregg Popovich has recently given some clues in this regard.
As Tom Osborn, a journalist from the San Antonio Express, the technician has ensured that his medical team has informed him that Collins will be available again “after Christmas”. Although Popovich himself has assured that he is not clear about what exactly that data means at the level of dates, it seems that we will see the young pivot play again in late 2021 or early 2022.
Considering that you have to go back to August 2020 to find the last match played by Zach, this cannot but be received as good news. His stage in the Blazers prior to his ordeal of injuries was truly promising, and although it is true that Collins is not expected to suddenly return to that level, it does allow the Spurs to dream of the possibility of having a center of many virtues and only 23 years old. However, to check your fitness, for now we just have to wait.
