(Trends Wide) — Police have arrested Camilo Hurtado Campos, a “popular” soccer coach from Tennessee, after authorities say multiple videos were found on his cell phone of unconscious children being raped.
Hurtado Campos is being held in Franklin, Tennessee, for rape of a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor, and additional charges are expected to be filed, according to a press release from the city police published this Sunday.
Authorities explained that they were alerted to the videos after Campos left his phone at a restaurant, and employees went through the device to find information about the owner so they could return it.
“What they found, however, were dozens of inconceivable videos and images of children, for which they called the Police,” the statement read.
Authorities began investigating and found hundreds of disturbing images and videos on the 63-year-old man’s phone, according to the statement. Police say Campos “recorded himself raping unconscious children between the ages of approximately 9 and 17.”
So far, “at least 10 children” have been found raped on the phone, and detectives have been able to identify two of the victims by working with local schools, the statement added,
Detectives explain that the victims may not even know they were raped because, in the footage, they are unconscious.
Campos has lived in the city of Franklin, south of Nashville, for the past two decades.
The soccer coach allegedly frequented school playgrounds, where he recruited children to play soccer, many of whom he later invited to his home after gaining their trust, the statement said.
Franklin Police are still trying to identify the remaining children and are seeking information on any who may have been associated with Campos.
Campos’ bail was set at $525,000, a spokesman for the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said.
It is not clear if Campos has legal representation.
