PRD complaint in the INE purchase of advertising from Morena deputies for Sheinbaum

The representation of PRD before the National Electoral Institute (INE) filed a complaint about the purchase of advertising by legislators and politicians from Morena to reinforce the campaign in favor of the head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

“We filed a complaint with the INE Mexico for anticipated acts of campaign against the regent (sic) Sheinbaum, the foreign minister (Marcelo) Ebrard and the Secretary of the Interior Adam Augustus. We cannot allow the “presidential corcholatas” to violate the Constitution and the electoral law”, said the representative of the PRD before the INE, Ángel Ávila.

The complaint identified federal deputies as responsible for purchasing advertising to favor Sheinbaum Miguel Torruco, Patricia Armendariz, Alexander Robles y Aleida Alavez.

Ángel Ávila accused these legislators of violating the aspects related to the personalized promotion of public officials and publicity campaigns paid for with public resources. He asked that the Complaints and Complaints Commission of the INE to investigate the existence of an “economic fund” to support these campaigns in favor of the Head of Government.

“Although it has been announced that this rude and million-dollar campaign of billboards is suspended, the authority must investigate who paid for the billboards and how, and must also penalize these acts so that they are not repeated in the future. We will be attentive to the resolution ”, he raised.

In the complaint, the PRD asked the INE to give a hearing to the Special Prosecutor for Electoral Crimes (String) to investigate the possible use of public resources in said advertising campaign, and to the Technical Oversight Unit in order to quantify the cost and account for it in the event that Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo obtain the registration of the pre-candidacy or candidacy of Morena for the Presidency of the Republic.

It also requested the INE to once urge the Head of Government to adjust her actions and conduct as an official to what is established in the Constitution, and that “she be ordered to cease activities, from promotional to events, and all advertising that has as in order to promote her figure as a candidate for the position of head of the federal executive for the Morena party.”

Finally, the complaint recalled that a campaign has been installed in practically all the states of the country with promotions on fences, public transport and bridges, in favor of Sheinbaum Pardo.
