Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra men’s basketball team will close the non-conference portion of its 2024-25 schedule on Sunday when it travels to Connecticut to face Quinnipiac.
Tip-off from M&T Bank Arena is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The game will air on ESPN+ and WRHU will have an audio-only broadcast available on the HAWC. Links to both can be found on this page and on the men’s basketball schedule page on GoHofstra.com.
That game will pit two head coaches who are quite familiar with each other as Hofstra Head Coach Speedy Claxton will oppose former Hofstra head coach and former Hofstra assistant coach Tom Pecora. Pecora served as an assistant coach at Hofstra from 1994 to 2001 and was the program’s head coach from 2001 to 2010.
Hofstra is 8-4 following a loss at home to Temple back on December 15. Jean Aranguren had 16 points and 14 rebounds in that contest to lead the way for the Pride, while Silas Sunday added five points, 11 rebounds, and three blocked shots.
Quinnipiac is 5-7 and most recently dropped a narrow 84-80 decision to Central Connecticut State on December 21. Amarri Monroe had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Bobcats.
This will be the third-ever meeting between Hofstra and Quinnipiac. The Pride won the most recent meeting, 72-70, on November 27, 2022 in Quebec, Canada. The first-ever meeting occurred on December 1, 2002 with the Bobcats capturing a 71-68 victory.
